Where the Journey Began

After retiring, I returned to two interests that have shaped much of my life: mathematics and the humanities. I began by writing a textbook on linear algebra, drawing upon both my career as a mathematician and my earlier studies in German and philosophy. That manuscript remains a work in progress, in part because repeated attempts to return to it have been interrupted by an unexpected desire to continue writing fiction.

What began as a pause to consider how best to explain eigenvectors and eigenvalues — and that may be the last time those terms appear on this site — led to A Chesapeake Nightmare. The novel became the first volume in the Predicate Uncertainty series, followed by Miner Issue. Both books are available through Amazon and Ingram, and signed copies may be purchased directly through this website.

The site is intended to be more than a place to promote books. My aim is to create a curated forum for reasoned and civil reflection on literature, art, history, music, culture, and society more broadly. The subjects may vary, but the purpose remains consistent: to examine ideas carefully, to encourage thoughtful discussion, and to consider how the arts and humanities help us better understand the world and one another.

Predicate Uncertainty

Two international thrillers, one relentless descent into suspense.

The Deeper They Dig, the Darker It Gets

A Chesapeake Nightmare opened the Predicate Uncertainty series — a taut, atmospheric thriller set against the shifting tides of the Chesapeake Bay. Miner Issue followed, carrying readers deeper into a world where every certainty is called into question and the truth lies buried further down than anyone dares to dig.

Written after a career as a military analyst, both novels weave meticulous plotting with unforgettable characters and international intrigue — the kind of stories that keep you turning pages deep into the night.

Both books are available through Amazon and Ingram, and signed copies may be purchased directly through this website.

What Readers Are Saying

Thoughts from fellow readers who have journeyed through the novels.

A Chesapeake Nightmare kept me up for three nights straight. The way Yeakel weaves local atmosphere with international intrigue is masterful. The Chesapeake setting feels so alive you can almost taste the salt air. A genuine page-turner from start to finish.

Yeakel's novels are a rare find — intelligent thrillers that don't talk down to their readers. The plotting is meticulous and the characters stay with you long after the final page. This is storytelling at its best, and I've already ordered the next in the series.

Miner Issue takes you places you don't expect — both geographically and emotionally. The layers of conspiracy unfold so naturally. The signed copy I ordered arrived beautifully packaged. It's now a treasured part of my collection.
